Mary Neff Roast - Thanks and Photos
Mary Neff

All of you gave me a night to remember, when Koshy hosted the Westchester Toastmasters celebration for my 30th anniversary in Toastmasters. Thank you so much for being part of it. It was so awesome that I couldn’t think of what to say afterwards, and now, three weeks later, it still seems like a dream. All of you at Westchester Toastmasters put on a great event, and it was awesome that so many members of other clubs also came.

To all of you who roasted me, I will one day get back. To all of you who laughed that evening–and we all did–I wish you a whole new year full of fun and laughter. Members of Westchester Toastmasters, you put on a great show. Members of other clubs coming from all over the district, a special thank you to you. To those of you who made the longest trek–with special recognition for Steve Chen, Brian Cohen and Brian Lin–thank you so much for coming and taking part in the roast. To you old timers, it was great to see you again. Brad, thank you for rerunning the show.

Evelyn, what can I say, incredible talent and creativity! I am glad that everyone saw what you do outside of Toastmasters. Thank you.

And one of this could have happened without club president and host Koshy Chacko. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

How does a Toastmaster get to be a 30-year member? Why do we old Toasties stay in? Because on any given night, some member might give the speech of their life. Because we are members of good clubs. What is a good club? A good club is one that fulfills the Toastmasters club mission of providing a “mutually supportive, positive learning environment, in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth.” Westchester fulfills it in spades. Before the dinner, I looked over my anniversary speeches of earlier years… and they all celebrated the club, mentioned memorable speeches by memorable members, and celebrated what I learned from other people.

In our journey through Toastmasters, we support one another and learn from one another. You have all done that for me. So I’m looking forward to the next big anniversary celebration in June, when Westchester Toastmasters, Club 863, celebrates sixty years of helping members grow.

Mary
