Dear Esteemed Toastmasters,

The 2016- 2017 Public Relations Team is extremely delightful to serve you and your club for this calendar year. We bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role as Toastmasters and professionals.

We know good Public Relations (PR) is the practice of creating, promoting and maintaining a favorable image of an institution among its various audiences through the use of a variety of communication channels and tools. Therefore, we will be reaching out to you, District and Club Leaders, on a number of fronts; moreover, we want you to do the same. We’re here for you.

Our goals as PR members are as follows:

  • Build Membership
  • Gain Public Recognition
  • Enhance perception
  • Raise awareness of social media

Our main PR duties and responsibilities includes:

  • Protect the Toastmasters brand
  • Develop a public relations plan
  • Train club officers
  • Collaborate with leaders/Clubs to discuss PR plan, activities and initiatives
  • Monitor and give feedback on PR

In the coming weeks and months, we will be inviting your participation. Our first few challenges we are looking to solve are:

  • Ensure all clubs have accurate contact information and map connected with Toastmaster.org
  • Ensure all VP of Public Relations are able to access the PR templates provided by Toastmasters International
  • Ensure all clubs have access to FreeToastHost or EasySpeak website and know how to use it.
  • Ensure all members receive the District newsletter
  • Increase club usage and interaction on Social Media
  • Creation of a best practices guide for all VP of Public Relations officers

Some of our strategies to achieve these initial goals include:

  • Creation and posting of YouTube style tutorials
  • Scheduling of PR/Social based live training sessions
  • Outreach to all club VP of Public Relations officers

We have a lot of work to do but in the interest of not overwhelming anyone we simply ask for your help in starting the process by having you verify that you are able to log into the Toastmasters.org website and are able to access the Club Central section. It is the first link under the “Leadership Central” main navigation tab: https://www.toastmasters.org/My-Toastmasters/profile/club-central

Also please familiarize yourself with the templates in the PR section of the International site.
